Notman & Campbell

>>> William Notman was born in 1826 in Scotland and immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1856. He soon established himself as a photographer gaining notoriety for his portraits. Many prominent visitors and the Montreal elite were drawn to his studio. His own prominance grew over the years allowing him to expand his business in Montreal to a second studio. He also opened two studios in Boston, MA, one on 4 Park Street. Many other studios were opened in Canada in cities like Toronto, Ottawa, St. John and Halifax. Studios were also opened in Cambridge, MA, New Haven, CT, and Easton, PA. In 1891 William Notman died and the family business passed on to his two sons, William McFarlane Notman and Charles F. Notman.

>>> I have 1 CDV "Carte-de-Visite" photo in my collection produced by Notman & Campbell. Look at my Master Index for a list of other photographers in my collection.
